Venetian Blinds and Thermal Blinds—General Information

Venetian blinds are reliable window coverings.  They have been around for centuries.  To this day, they have been one of the most commonly stylized and used window treatments.  This is due to their multiple features and sleek design. They can keep your room cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. What makes them different from other window blind treatments is they have horizontal slats while most others are vertical.

The slats are around two inches wide and can be made of plastic, aluminum, or wood.  Oftentimes venetian blinds are used in restaurants, offices, conferences, living rooms, and bedrooms.  The slats are suspended by cords or wide cloth tapes so they can tilt up to 180 degrees.  This is done to open or shut them. There are also motorized options to open and shut them.

These types of window blinds are the ones that are the most cost-effective.  They are durable and can last for several years if you take care of them.  Over time, they can crack or warp if not taken care of.  To clean them you just have to take a dry cloth and gently wipe the slats.  They are easy to use to control how much sunlight comes into the room and protect your privacy.

Thermal blinds are designed specifically to keep your room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. This is done by reflecting the sunlight away from your windows.  They also help to prevent cold drafts from coming in. The downside with them is that they are only suited for certain rooms but you can install them in any window.  The best windows to put them are in the bedrooms, especially during the winter months.  It makes your bedroom nice and cozy.

Thermal blinds are also cost-effective and can save you money on your electric bill by not running your furnace or air conditioner as much.  One advantage of this type of window blind is they help to reduce noise.  The additional layer in them works to not only repel cold and trap warm air but helps to limit everyday noise from outside.  They are considered energy-efficient blinds.

You can get them in a variety of patterns and colors to match your style and taste. With the thicker material blocking out some of the noise they help you to sleep better. The thick material will also block out some of the light that might come through normal window coverings.  The thick material also gives you more privacy.

Venetian and thermal blinds both offer you privacy and help limit the sunlight or light coming into a room.  The big advantage that the thermal ones have over the other ones is that they are insulated and help you save on your energy bills by keeping your house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  The Venetian ones are less expensive and easier to maintain.  Do your research and decide where you want to put your window blinds to help you make your decision.
